OUR TEACHERS

HUDS has a history of exceptional dance training and has become well regarded for it’s quality tuition across a broad range of dance styles. Our faculty is an extraordinary collection of specialised, trained and motivated professionals, all holding a WWCC and first aid certificate. Our teachers are incredibly invested in fostering a love of the arts and inspiring young dancers to strive to realise their potential.

MISS SKYE

Studio Principal

Miss Skye has been dancing from a very young age (over 30yrs in total) in many styles including Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Classical Ballet, Lyrical, National Character, Tap, Broadway/Theatre Jazz and Contemporary. Skye is a teacher of the Acrobatic Arts, British Dancing Association (BDA), Glenn Wood Tap (GWT), Australian Dance Vision (ADV) and Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) syllabi. Miss Skye is also an IASCF Cheer Coach, ADV Classical Ballet and Jazz examiner and Dance & Cheer Judge.

Miss Skye has a Bachelor of Science, Grad Cert in Applied Science, Cert IV Dance Teaching & Management (Classical Ballet Major), a Cert IV in Training and Assessing and a Cert III in Fitness amongst her other dance accolades. 
Miss Skye has not only been a dancer and teacher but has also choreographed for Starstruck, Youth, Amateur and Professional Theatre Productions, multi award winning dance cheer teams and soloists and has attended workshops with many of the world’s leading choreographers over the years from Nacho Pop to Mia Michaels. All of Miss Skye’s students have the utmost respect for her and love learning strong foundations and technique while having loads of fun, fuelling their love of the art!​

MISS BRYDIE

Dance Teacher & Team Coach

Miss Brydie as been dancing since she was just 2 years old, and has been dancing with Hunter Urban Dance Studio for the past 8 years, being trained in Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Pom and Contemporary dance.  She has gained exceptional results in both PDA and high levels of Glen Wood Tap exams and has performed in various school, community and competitive events, both in groups and as a soloist. 
In 2016, Miss Brydie started teaching at HUDS and looks forward to teaching at the studio every year. She spends a lot of time outside of class choreographing and perfecting routines that will challenge her students and allow them to develop and grow as dancers. She immensely enjoys sharing her passion for dance with all students and seeing them blossom throughout the year.

MISS LAURA

Dance Teacher

Miss Laura started teaching for HUDS in 2012 as an experienced teacher and was a member of our founding team for many years before completing her study in Science and finishing with an MBA. Miss Laura has a lot of experience in preparing students for eisteddfods and examinations in ballet, jazz and tap and joins us once again this year to continue to spread joy and her passion for dance.
Message from Miss Laura:
To say I'm positively thrilled to be part of the HUDS family again this year is an understatement! I am truly blessed to have this wonderful opportunity to share my love and passion of dance. I'm looking forward to making 2022 a year to remember and filling every experience with unbridled joy. Every week, I hope that every student feels uplifted, confident, content and eager for next lessons. To Miss Skye and our HUDS family, thank you for having me this year. Let's embrace every moment - why walk when we can dance?

MISS CLAIRE

Guest Teacher

Miss Clair’s formative training was with the BBO and RAD syllabi with teachers including Tessa Maunder and Kathleen Gorham at the National School, Melbourne along with Ken Gillespie in Tasmanian Ballet before heading overseas to America on full scholarship to the School of American Ballet and further New York City Ballet.
Miss Clair has had an extensive professional Classical Ballet and Contemporary dance career touring overseas including as a Soloist and Principle artist and training to be a ballet mistress and choreographer with the Arizona Ballet.
Her passion for dance and nurturing youth is an infectious part of her approach to teaching and bringing out the best out of a dancer.
Since returning to Australia Miss Clair has been a guest teacher involved in many prestigious organisations including the Australian Ballet, Adeline Genee Competition just to name a few.
FUN FACT: Miss Clair has two daughters and has been studying yoga recently which she is loving.
SHORT MESSAGE: I am very much looking forward to joining and meeting the lovely students of Hunter Urban Dance Studio and to help them progress in their technique and nurture their love for classical ballet and dance as a whole.

MISS RACHEL

Administration

Miss Rachel has a long background in dance primarily as parent with her children having danced for many years as they were growing up and also as an administrator.
Miss Rachel loves dance and all things fitness related.
FUN FACT: Miss Rachel is also a fitness instructor and loves to organise!!

MISS TERRI

Dance Teacher & Team Coach

Miss Terri started dancing at the age of 5 and have trained in Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet/Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary, Pom and Chorus. During this time Terri has completed examinations with the Glen Wood Tap Syllabus in levels 4-10 achieving high distinctions and gold awards as well as examinations with the Royal Academy of Dance in Grades Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate.Miss Terri is an accredited level 1 and 2 cheer coach and has choreographed both State and National Title winning groups and solo routines as well as high ranking eisteddfod numbers.Miss Terri has participated in many competitions and eisteddfods both as a competitor and coach, as well as being successful in auditioning and performing as part of a featured number in Starstruck.Miss Terri holds a WWCC, Child Protection Awareness Certificate, First Aid, Concussions Check for Youth Sports Coaches, and Anaphylaxis Training certificates.Something you may not know about Miss Terri: she is currently completing a Bachelor Of Education at The University of Newcastle and can’t wait to apply all of the new teaching skills and tools learnt towards coaching and is excited to be starting at HUDS and meeting everyone this year.

MISS ZOE

Dance Teacher

Miss Zoe has been dancing since she was just a little girl and has been dancing with Hunter Urban Dance Studio for the past 8 years under the watchful eye of Miss Skye. Miss Zoe has been trained in Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Contemporary Dance and completed Dance Studies as part of her HSC in 2012. Miss Zoe has become a wonderful dancer and creative choreographer, she started Assistant Teaching in 2014 with HUDS and was accepted into Bachelor of Dance (Elite Performance) at the Australian Academy of Music & Performing Arts for 2015. Miss Zoe has since gained a world of experience working alongside many talented upcoming dancers and leading choregrapher's during her time AMPA and will be returning to HUDS in 2019 as a casual teacher for workshops, choreography days, mentoring and teaching throughout the year.
